Phrases from the movie "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"
My father also died of cancer. They amputated everything that was possible, but it didn’t help—he died anyway.
Do you know what I think? That death is a very unpleasant form of existence.
Hey, beauty, I'm a cool man, let's go have a drink! Are you a lesbian or what?
In the sky there is only talk about the sea and the sunset. They talk about how damn cool it is to watch a huge fireball, how it melts in the waves... And a barely visible light, as if from a candle, burns somewhere in the depths...
- We are heading to the sea, you have never been there. - It seems I don’t want to... - You won’t have anything to talk about in heaven. - Yes, I know, I want to go to the sea, but I’m a little scared... - You know, it’s stupid to be afraid.
***
— You stand on the shore and feel the salty smell of the wind that blows from the sea. And you believe that you are free and life has just begun. And her friend’s lips are burned by a kiss soaked in tears. - I haven’t been to the sea... - Okay, don’t flood it... Never been to the sea? - I didn’t have a chance. Was not. “We’ve already knocked on heaven’s door, pumped ourselves up on tequila, and literally escorted ourselves... on our last journey.” Hm. But you haven’t been to the sea. - I didn’t have time, it didn’t work out. “I didn’t know that there’s nowhere in heaven without this?”
***
— Is it possible to smoke here? - No, we don’t smoke here - I didn’t realize it right away.
***
- Light a cigarette... it’s easier. - Smoking? No, it's dangerous to your health. - I don’t have lung cancer.
***
— Doctor, has the operation already been completed? - Yes, you are already in heaven. I am the Lord, and he is Saint Peter. - Salam-alaikum! - They just cut out my tonsils...
Sister, there’s no salt and lemon, otherwise there’s nothing to eat tequila with...
My God, I don’t even have a driver’s license... So you’re not Elvis either...
This is a brothel, not a music hall. Forget about technology, you have to get a client for the whole night.
Frankie, these are all bastard cops. They whistled the lemon. They have such a correction. Corruption.
Let's assume you're telling the truth... And money from the post office. So who are these heavenly angels, Rudy and Martin?
A fast car, a million marks in the trunk and only one week to live.
Lord, I don’t even have a driver’s license... Well, you’re not Elvis either...
A fast car, a million marks in the trunk, and only one week to live.
Death is a very unpleasant form of existence.
We’ve already knocked on heaven, pumped ourselves up with tequila, and literally saw ourselves off on our last journey... But you haven’t been to the sea...
This is your wish? Desire number one? I agree, it’s not as beautiful as a Cadillac for mom, but...
And one more thing... A bottle... Kuve house Peregnon. Better than two bottles of Couvet house Peregnon.
Didn’t know that there’s nowhere in heaven without this? Understand that in heaven they only talk about the sea. How infinitely beautiful it is... About the sunset that they saw... About how the sun, plunging into the waves, became scarlet like blood. And they felt that the sea had absorbed the energy of the light into itself, and the sun was tamed, and the fire was already burning out in the depths. And you?.. What will you tell them? After all, you have never been to the sea. Up there they will christen you...
If I had known, I would have mastered a different profession. — And this is what you studied at the institute?
Phrases and quotes from the film - Knockin' On Heaven's Door - The title comes from the famous Bob Dylan song of the same name, which is heard in the film performed by the German group Selig, a 1997 cult film written and directed by Thomas Jahn.
Quotes from the movie “Knockin' on Heaven's Door”
“- Rudy, I wanted to say... - I know. I realized: being afraid is stupid.”
Fear is a barrier, a limitation. The hero of the film, in a quote from the film “Knockin' on Heaven's Door,” speaks about fear, a basic instinctive feeling that sometimes has very strong limitations on people. Fear comes in different forms: real and fictitious. You need to listen to any of them and work with him.
Fears limit and prevent you from moving further towards your goal and success. If you have set a goal, then cast aside all doubts and fears, move towards your goal, fulfill everything you want to get from life. We are the Creators of our lives! We must remember our Divine nature and move forward. Believe in yourself and everything will work out!
Reflected objects are closer than they appear.
Death is a very unpleasant form of existence.
- Rudy, I wanted to say.. - I know. I realized: being afraid is stupid.
- Maybe I should have asked someone? - Yeah. “Sister, is there any salt and lemon, otherwise there’s nothing to snack on the tequila?”
A fast car, a million marks in the trunk, and only one week to live.
My God, I don’t even have a driver’s license... So you’re not Elvis either...

- "Knockin 'on Heaven"
You stand on the shore and feel the salty smell of the wind that blows from the sea. And you believe that you are free and life has just begun. And a kiss, soaked in tears, burns her friend’s lips.
And you remember how your life passed, Understanding perfectly well that you cannot turn back. For those moments that, soaring into the milk of heaven, You see a huge ball of the sun,
Having passed through the world, it disappears in the waves. And everything that we are used to passing off as pain. He will go after him. How are you. Without words, calmly and easily. Like the wind, with the smell of your hair,
Lightly stirring memories in my soul... And a stream of tears, rolling down from your face after him, will fill your ocean of oblivion to the brim, so that, having evaporated, you can dream about life again...
You also know what I realized, it’s stupid to be afraid

Filmocracy. "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Thomas Young
Having gained worldwide recognition, the film reached Russia in the same year, where it became a cult favorite for the post-perestroika young generation “P”. It is noteworthy that our countries were very close in spirit at that time, and an unprecedented cultural surge occurred precisely in those years. Valery Todorovsky, Alexey Balabanov, Yuri Mamin are representatives of the new Russian wave of cinema. They created interesting, slightly hooligan films together with their colleagues from Germany and looked at the surrounding reality differently than the venerable Hollywood directors. In 1997, at the Moscow Film Festival, Thomas Jahn's film received several awards: the main prize for best actor - Silver "St. George" (Til Schweiger) and the prize for best film - Gold "St. George".
Actor Jan Josef Liefers was married to Oleg Tabakov's daughter Alexandra
The tragicomedy with the title line from Bob Dylan's lyrics in the title of the film tells the story of two terminally ill young people whom fate brings together in the last days of their lives in the “ward for the dead.” After an unexpected gesture of fate (a fallen cross and the appearance of tequila), the newly made friends decide to make the “final push.” Martin Brest (Til Schweigel), without knowing it, becomes the guide of the notorious Rudi Wurlitzer (Jan Josef Liefers). Martin's thoughtful reflections on life and the sea amaze the impressionable Rudi, and he is ready to trust him completely, but with caution, remembering his role - such a correct and well-mannered German. Martin, on the contrary, at first does not at all look like a “saint” and well-mannered, his past is shrouded in fog, but from the moment when everything went to dust, he gradually discovers in himself the ability to “preach” simple truths and talk about the frailty of existence, in the form of episodic lyrical digressions. It is curious that the director deliberately “skips” the fate of the main characters, without attaching any importance to the past, starting the story from the last days of life. This largely highlights the radical changes in the characters of Martin and Rudy, revealing only a few minor episodes from their past lives.
After the first “pranks”, such as the theft of a rare sky-blue Mercedes-Benz 230 SL and a ridiculous robbery in the best traditions of Tarantino (all action episodes are accompanied by a characteristic Mexican soundtrack and extreme dynamics characteristic of Tarantino, but without aggressive cynicism), the heroes begin to discover life for themselves is different: Martin becomes sentimental and wise, and Rudy finally realizes his most immodest secret dreams. A wish list compiled by friends becomes an instruction for action.
Director Thomas Yang can be seen in a cameo role as a taxi driver
On their way, they alarmed absolutely everyone, baffling them with their unconventional antics: the police comically rushed after them, bumping into traps, and with them the bandits, literally on their heels. The bandits who played the supporting roles are a colorful couple of “brothers” from the 90s only with German specifics. Just as ridiculous as, for example, the Nizhny Novgorod bandits from the black comedy “Zhmurki” by Alexei Balabanov. Abdul (Moritz Bleibtreu) and Hank (Thierry Van Verwecke) are trying to return a rare car, stolen by Mark and Rudy at the beginning of the film, and with it, as it later turns out, a suitcase with a million that belongs to the mysterious boss Curtiz (Rutger Hauer).
Who really constantly breaks down throughout the film are the bandits and the police, and the main characters perceive all their adventures as the main journey of their lives. Having discovered a million, friends begin to live on the grandest scale, but gradually the illusions of material wealth fade into the background, and instead their souls are filled with sincerity, compassion, generosity and love. Just look at the famous pink Cadillac that Mark gave to his mother, just as Elvis once did for his mother. By the way, Elvis Presley served in Germany in 1958, where he was transferred after the death of his mother, with whom he was very close, like Mark. Elvis was then at the peak of his popularity, and Mark just remembers this period from his childhood, spent with his mother in endless auditions of the king of rock and roll in difficult post-war conditions. The tragic moment of meeting his mother marked a round of new adventures for the wandering friends. They still needed to finish things in this world; there were still uncrossed items on the list. Having distributed their karmic debts first to the police and then to the bandits, Mark and Rudy, blessed by the main bandit Curtiz (he also knows a lot about talking about the sea), set off towards the sea.
Finally, seeing the sea, Rudy utters the key phrase: “I understand - it’s stupid to be afraid.” It sounds like a summary of his whole life, which, thanks to his guide and friend Mark, was again filled with meaning. The final climactic scene is accompanied by the song “Knockin' On Heaven's Door”, and the heroes silently enjoy the sea, which they so longed for in the last days of their lives. Martin and Rudy were able to reach heaven, and heaven heard them. In addition, they were able to reach millions of hearts, forcing many to rethink their lives, set life priorities differently and be more responsive to the people around them.
A Japanese remake of the film was released in 2009.
