Proverbs and sayings about friendship

***

A bird is strong with its wings, and a man is strong with friendship. There are no distances for friendship. You can’t break a broom, but you can break the whole twig. There is truth in friendship. Friendship lives close from unfriendship. A strong friendship cannot be cut with an ax, nor can it be spilled with water. There are no distances for friendship. Friendship is strong not through flattery, but through truth and honor. Where friendship is strong, things go well. Friendship loves business. Friendship is strong through care and help. Being together is not burdensome, but apart at least throw it away. Friendship is like glass: if you break it, you won’t be able to put it back together. Two cats in a bag cannot make friends. Not into service, but into friendship. Lies ruin friendship, why friendship doesn’t love it. Friendship and brotherhood are the best wealth. Friendship is not service; and whoever you make friends with, serve him. Friendship is strong through care and help. Friendship is different from friendship, but at least leave the other. Friendship is like glass: if you break it, you won’t be able to put it back together. Distance does not interfere with friendship.

Proverbs about friendship with explanation of meaning

Children learn proverbs about friendship starting in 1st grade. In elementary school, children are offered tasks that require them to explain the meaning of proverbs.

It is easier for 2nd and even 3rd grade students to explain proverbs that they know and perhaps even use when communicating with friends.

We will explain the meaning of the most common proverbs about friendship from primary school textbooks.

Friendship is more valuable than money

This proverb tells us that friendship is priceless and that true friendship cannot be bought with money.

The proverb “Friendship is more valuable than money” says that not everything in our world can be valued in money and bought; there are priceless things that cannot be bought for any money, which means these things are more expensive than money. So true friendship cannot be bought, just as it is impossible to buy sincere feelings.

Don't have a hundred rubles, but have a hundred friends.

Friendship is more valuable than wealth and money. Money will be spent quickly, but friends will remain forever. It's good to have many reliable friends. In difficult times, a friend will be able to advise, give the necessary advice, and simply support and reassure. And money is insensitive pieces of paper, which sometimes even cause problems.

This proverb is used when friends or acquaintances help or help out in trouble.

Option. Don't keep a hundred rubles, but keep a hundred friends.

Similar in meaning. Not to live with money, but with kind people. Friendship and brotherhood are more valuable than any wealth.

An old friend is better than two new ones.

True friendship becomes stronger over the years, and friendship can be tested over time. That’s why an old friend is better - he’s tried and true, but a new one, even two, is still unknown, what if he lets you down?! Old trusted friends will never betray, but how faithful new friends will be is not yet known. This is what those who value true friends say or regret that they are not there.

One for all and all for one.

Every person should support his neighbor. A trusted friend is sometimes considered a member of the family; for many, he becomes a loved one. After all, a good friend is always there, he will always help in both joy and sorrow. So it turns out that all people take, and everyone should help each other.

This proverb reflects an ancient form of solidarity. It is known, for example, that at the veche (people's meeting) the inhabitants of ancient Novgorod, kissing the cross, swore “to fight for one, either life or death, for the truth of Novgorod.”

Similar in meaning. To love a friend is not to spare yourself. Die yourself, but help your comrade.

Die yourself, but help your comrade.

This proverb is understood by many to mean that one must die for a friend. In fact, a true friend will always help a friend, even at the risk of getting into an unpleasant, dangerous situation.

This proverb is often used as praise for caring for others at the expense of oneself, or as an example to follow of good deeds.

There is safety in numbers.

The meaning of this proverb is that friendship helps any business. When you know that you can always count on the help of a friend who will not let you down (friendship is strong), then you act more freely. And it’s easier to do something together.

Where friendship is strong, things go well.

With a good friend you will move mountains, with a bad friend you will experience grief.

With a good friend you will move mountains, with a bad friend you will experience grief. A good friend will support, help, understand, you can do anything with him, even move mountains, but a bad friend is unreliable, will let you down at any moment, and with him you will only get into trouble. Strong friendship is accompanied by loyalty, mutual understanding, courage, kindness, respect; naturally, things go well there.

A strong friendship cannot be cut with an axe.

No circumstances can destroy a true strong friendship, not even an ax. Because friends know how to find compromises, they know how to negotiate. Trusted friends will not betray for their own benefit.

This proverb is used when someone wants to set up a friend, and you find out about it.

Similar in meaning. Where friendship is valued, enemies tremble.

It should be noted that a proverb is a genre of oral folk art that is hundreds of years old. A proverb carries a certain meaning, it is a kind of representation, a characteristic of some concept, thing, event, in this case - friendship.

Listen to these proverbs and they will help you in life.

Proverbs and sayings about friendship and friends

***

There is no price for a true friend. Die yourself, but help your comrade. Holding on to each other means not being afraid of anything. A man without friends is like a tree without roots. I was at a friend’s place and drank the water – it seemed sweeter than honey. A true friend is better than a hundred servants. A man without friends is a left hand without a right. If you don’t have a friend, look for him, but if you find him, take care of him. Stand for each other and you will win the battle. He who is cool in character is no one's friend. It's easier to lose a friend than to find one. A good friend is better than a hundred relatives. Mutual trust is the basis of friendship. For a good friend, neither bread nor leisure is a pity. You have to eat a ton of salt together to recognize your friend. Suddenly you won't become a friend. Whoever you mess with, that's how you'll gain: from a bee to honey, from a beetle to manure. A tree is held together by its roots, and a person is held together by its friends. For a friend, seven miles is not a suburb. To be everyone's friend or to have no friends is the same. You will not get to know your friend without trouble. The road to a friend's house is never long. With a good friend you will move mountains, but with a bad friend you will experience grief. Be friends, be friends, but don’t hold them for half.

Review of ENEMIES AND FRIENDS

Not every friend is our friend and not every enemy is our enemy...

They say you don't choose your friends. It seems to me that this is not entirely true. There are very interesting and charismatic people, communication with whom is a pleasure. And we unconsciously reach out to such people. Sometimes even a casual acquaintance with a person later develops into a strong friendship. Sometimes people agree with each other for a long time due to common interests, inclinations, and hobbies. And at work, many people are often friends with each other. But the most sincere and strong friendship, of course, is born in childhood and forever. Childhood friends are something special.

It's good to have friends, it's good to have a lot of them. After all, there are never too many friends. But you can’t have too many true, devoted friends. What is a close friend? A person with whom you can talk, spend time, sit at the table, share your thoughts and problems? Maybe so. But not only. For me, a true friend is someone you can turn to for help in difficult times and he will never refuse.

Jack London has a story, I don’t remember the name, but the gist is the following. One day, one young man decided to check whether his friends were as faithful as they said they were at a friendly table in a good drink. He comes to his best friend at night and says: “So, well, I accidentally killed a man. Help me bury it before no one sees.” He was scared to death and said that he was very sick and couldn’t go with him.

He went to another, but he also refused. So he went around to all his friends, but no one helped him. Then he went to a neighbor with whom he had been at enmity all his life. The neighbor listened to him, silently took a shovel and went out into the yard...

So, as one famous politician said: “Not every friend is our friend and not every enemy is our enemy.”

After all, friendship is not a declaration; true friendship is proven by deeds, not words. During my life, I have had to deal with the betrayal of loved ones whom I trusted immensely, and vice versa, with the unexpected help of those on whom I could not even count. Life is a complicated thing. But I know many examples of strong friendships. And this is very gratifying.

Although we Russians, by nature, are very isolated people and find it difficult to get along with others. We like to be alone, we like to think, reflect, as they say, “dig into ourselves.” And we don’t like to ask others for anything, but try to decide everything ourselves. I don’t understand at all how they managed to unite the disparate Russian principalities at one time. Foreigners say that we are always gloomy and angry. But this, of course, is not true. We just take everything too personally. And everyone has enough problems.

In this regard, it would be nice to learn from other nations. While still in the army, I noticed how quickly and easily guys from the Caucasus and Central Asia get along with each other. One or two days and they are all together. We are each on our own, when you make friends with someone. Well, we each got it individually until we became friends. And now I see a lot of different diasporas in our city. But one can only envy how they help their fellow tribesmen. We don't have that.

In Soviet times, there was nothing to share among ourselves, so the friendship was sincere and selfless. As Mikhail Zadornov once said: “In Soviet times, we did not look at who had more of what. We were friends when we were interested, and we loved when we fell in love.” Everything is correct. We were dense "scoops". And today we have friendships and arranged marriages, love for money. We are now “civilized”.

With the beginning of wild capitalism, a lot has changed. Friends began to “order” each other without dividing the business, and they began to look for acquaintances based on possible benefits. As one famous Western financier said: “There are no friends in business.”

And now someone’s yesterday’s friend, as they say, having “dumped” his comrade, cynically repeats the phrase heard in some old American film: “Nothing personal. Only business." The bestial face of capitalism. What kind of honor and decency can you talk about if your financial position is at stake? Money has become the measure of everything.

Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone. But I was faced with a similar situation and there is still a heavy aftertaste in my soul. That’s when I understood the bitter meaning of one of the writers’ phrases: “The more I get to know people, the more I like dogs.” Indeed, a dog will never betray. It was no coincidence that I included a photograph of the monument of devotion erected in Tolyatti. I think everyone knows this story.

The Soviet Union also had many “friends”. And when it collapsed, these “friends” began to expel the Russians from their republics as their last enemies. But many republics then lived much better than we did in the RSFSR. They were allocated significantly more resources from the Center, as long as they supported the desired party line. And the Baltic republics did not differ much from Europe in terms of living standards.

And now they have all turned their backs on us and even spit in our direction. Therefore, in global terms, it is still better to choose friends, so as not to regret it later. Another thing is that you can make a mistake with your choice. We are now largely alone. Perhaps Belarus still somehow maintains friendly ties with us. But here, too, everything can change.

And what happens in the end? As soon as a great country fell apart, how did all the people immediately change, and there was no longer any friendship? No, of course not. People have changed, but friendship, sincere friendship remains. Although this ugly “rich-poor” inequality has made its own sad adjustments to people’s relationships. And it is not envy of the rich, as they try to tell us, that lives in people, but injustice from the very beginning of reforms.

I had a lot of friends at one time. Good, real ones. They did business, helped each other, fought off those who wanted to profit at someone else’s expense. Now, as they say: “there are no others, but those are far away.” And I can only regret that I rarely communicated with them, I still didn’t have enough time to call or stop by.

All our lives we are in a hurry to get somewhere, decide “very important things”, leaving the promise to “drop by” for tomorrow. And then the call: “He died.”

So, don't waste time, call a friend.

Life is hard without a friend

Proverbs and sayings about friendship and friends for children in grades 1, 2 and 3

***

He who seeks a friend without faults will be left without a friend. Whoever leaves a friend in trouble gets into trouble himself. One who likes to lie cannot be called a friend. Where there is peace and harmony, there is no need for treasure. Friendship is more valuable than money. He who forgets old friends will not make new ones. A friend in need is a friend indeed. There is no friend like your own mother. The smart one blames himself, the stupid one blames his friend. The mountain is destroyed by the wind, and human friendship is destroyed by words. Friends are easy to find, but difficult to keep. It is not easy to make a friend even in a year, but you can offend a friend in one minute. In true friendship, it’s like this: get lost yourself, and help your friend out of trouble. A friend is not a mushroom: you can’t choose with your heart, you can’t find with your eyes. Pour the last tea for your friend. You can live without a brother, but not without a friend. He who helps a friend overcomes his enemy. Where friendship is valued, enemies will tremble. Everyone is both a friend and an enemy to himself. Two sorrows together - the third in half. Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.

What is your good friend?

What about your good friend? Then try to think about what gives you the success of conferring such a high title on a person. It’s melodious, those who spend many hours together. And those that you do not need to doubt the readiness of this person to help support. And also those who share great joy in your successes and will calm you down in case of failures. You can name a lot of reasons, but what is popular wisdom about this?

Not the friend who smears honey, but the one who seems to be telling the truth. Without a true friend there is great difficulty. Friends get to know each other in trouble. In bad times, you recognize a true person. Faithful others have no value. The enemy agrees, and the friend disagrees. Friendship is born in trouble, and is forged in work. It’s not a friend to praise quietly, but it’s not a friend to praise out loud. The sun shines on the wind, friend, on the soul.

an old friend is better than two new ones

Proverbs and sayings about friendship and true friends for children in grades 4-5

***

A true friend is found in trouble. A friend argues, and an enemy agrees. A friend for the time being is the same enemy. You can't buy a friend with money. Spring ice is deceptive, and a new friend is unreliable. Not the friend who smears honey, but the one who tells the truth to your face. An unknown friend is not good for services. Love the arguer, don't love the indulger. Having outlived his need, he forgot his friendship. Friend has not experienced that the nut is not cracked. An unfaithful friend is a dangerous friend. A bad friend - until a rainy day. There are many friends, but no friend. Don't recognize a friend in three days, recognize a friend in three years. An unfaithful friend is more dangerous than an enemy. Filya was strong - all his friends flocked to him, but trouble came - everyone left the yard. Anyone who shares a difficult moment with you is a true friend. You will not get to know your friend without trouble. A bad friend is like a shadow: you only see him on bright days. A plow is not a plow, a friend is not a friend. If we don’t get along with the custom, there will be no friendship. Not explored - friend, but explored - two. The one who points out your shortcomings is not always your enemy; the one who talks about your merits is not always your friend. Not the friend who smears honey, but the one who tells the truth to your face.

Why do people need friendship?

The message given to the people is unambiguous: “so” beyond any doubt. After all, friendship is a great force that gives people encouragement. And to get a true friend, all that’s left is to find treasures.

The tree is for the roots, the people are for the friends. Friendship is the greatest treasure. This is how you make friends, this is how you lead your life. I need my mother's friend in hell. It’s better for a mother to have a hundred friends than one enemy. If you don’t have a friend, look for them, and take care of those you know. Friendship and brotherhood are the greatest wealth. A treasure is not a friend, but a friend is a treasure. A friend’s water is as malted as the enemy’s honey. A man without a friend is like a hedgehog without salt.
