Once upon a time I lived in an old house. More than a year has flown by since then. And all its residents knew how ugly our local cat was. The ugly cat was always recognizable - He was one-eyed and had one ear. And he knew how difficult it is in the world, When you are alone and not loved by anyone. The tail was torn off and the paw was broken. It grew together at some wrong angle. And a lot of scars... And he was once a pleasant-looking tabby cat. No one has ever touched the cat. Bottles and stones were thrown at him. Ice water was poured from a hose. Trying to drive him out of his yard. And his paws were pinched by doors when he tried to enter someone's house. Suffering from pain, he licked his wounds. Many times already he was under someone’s window. But everyone was surprised at how brave this plain, ugly cat was. And if they water him with a hose, he will get wet obediently, but will not move away. And even when they threw something at him, He rubbed against his legs asking for affection. Seeing the children, he rushed after them. He dreamed of caring, but in vain... He couldn’t understand why in the whole world he couldn’t meet someone who could shelter him. And although he is ugly and dirty on the outside, he has a pure soul and knows how to love. One day a cat was bitten by dogs who lived opposite in the neighboring yard. There was barking and cries for help. I went downstairs - the cat was lying on the ground. The ugly cat was terribly bitten, his whole body was covered in blood. He was almost dying. Trying to hide from fear and pain, he curled up into a ball and lay motionless. He knew that the end of a sad life was coming. And a trail of tears crossed his forehead. I carried him into the house, he wheezed and choked. I suddenly felt bad, I was shaking. I felt how much he was in pain. And how hard it is for him to just breathe. But suddenly he reached out to my face and timidly tried to lick me. Choking from tears, I pressed myself against him. He pressed his head against my palm. His kind eye suddenly turned to me - And the cat purred, almost lifeless... And even through the most severe pain, this cat asked only for a drop of love. About a drop of sympathy that in this life We could not save a good heart. At that moment I suddenly realized that the most beautiful and loving one is the one who is looking at me now, dying, an ordinary ugly street cat. For the first time he felt someone's care. He found someone who was able to love. And I’m happy that I met someone who softens and doesn’t try to cause pain... He died a little before we were home. I sat down at the entrance with the cat in my arms. I held it for a long time until it got dark. Anxiety and fear settled in my soul. After all, I realized that the unfortunate cripple changed me in just one moment. He told me more about suffering than thousands of lectures, lessons and books. He scratched not my body, but my soul. And even though there are a lot of worries in my life, But I will only strive for one thing - Learn to love like an Ugly cat.
