12 motivating rules that make you go forward

“No matter how painful it is, we must continue to move forward”

When I was in my early 20s, I believed that all these successful big shots who tell us how to live never doubt anything. Of course, they look so confident. But it only seemed so.

How do I know? Years later I began to move in certain circles and there I met many of my former idols. It turned out that all of them were overcome by doubts that I had never even dreamed of.

So, one guy became famous because he worked hard on himself and dealt with the disease on his own. Once, when they were filming a documentary about him, during a break he went into the bathroom and screamed in incredible pain. He had just had shoulder surgery and the painkillers had stopped working. My friend happened to be passing by and heard a noise. He looked inside and asked the self-help guru if he was okay, and heard the answer: “No matter how much it hurts, you have to keep going.”

In my opinion, the perfect metaphor for our lives. And yes, because of health problems, that guy doubted himself, and how. But when you look at the footage taken before and immediately after that episode in the bathroom, you can’t even imagine that something is wrong: the hero looks so calm and relaxed, actually experiencing hellish torment. Moreover, immediately after filming, he went on stage and addressed thousands of people with a motivational speech. Incredible.

Decide on the area

First of all, determine the point where you are and where you want to go. Do you feel stagnant and lacking perspective in your work? Do you have problems in your social life or relationships with colleagues? Maybe your family relationships have exhausted themselves and require renewal? Decide what problem is causing you negative feelings and think about how you can solve it. Don’t jump at changes in all areas at once, focus on the main thing. This will help bring much more clarity to the situation.

Find a tug

Sometimes circumstances arise that it is simply impossible to get out of life’s impasse on your own. Experienced motorists know that if you are really seriously stuck, you need to stop pressing the gas (you will only dig deeper) and go for a tow. In our situation, this tug could be a best friend, family, teacher, therapist, or even a professional coach. Put aside excessive pride and don't be shy to ask for help. You need to go forward, right?
