Prepared by: Dmitry Sirotkin

Finally, there are quotes about Palahniuk.
About life ethics
Just because you stuck a feather up your ass doesn't make you a peacock.
While there is nothing to fight for, you can fight against something.
Someday I'm going to live in a way that involves doing good instead of just not doing bad.
To tell the truth, no matter where you are, you are in the wrong place.
Everything in the world in itself is nothing.
Sometimes the best way to deal with crap is to give up the belief that you are a great value. Those who can do it do it. Those who cannot, criticize.
A vulgar lie will always defeat a noble truth.
Those who do not remember their past are doomed to repeat it again and again.
Maybe we don't go to hell for the things we've done. Maybe we go to hell for things we didn't do. For things that were not completed.
People forget that the path to nowhere also begins with the first step.
If you don't know what you want, you'll die in a pile of what you didn't want.
The secret is to not let your imagination drive you crazy.
What you don’t understand, you can understand in any way you like.
There are no unimportant details. Every detail is worthy of attention.
You can survive anything - even the most terrible pain. You just need something to distract you. Try embroidery. Or make lampshades from colored glass.
I'm not evil. I'm just not afraid to tell people the cruel and unpleasant truth. We live in a cruel and unpleasant world.
I still like to think that the world is getting better. Although I know it's not. I still want people around me to become better people, although I know that this will never happen. And I still want to think that I can do something to make people and the world a better place.
Noise is what defines silence. Without noise we would not appreciate silence.
A compliment that is too loud can hurt more than a slap in the face.
About human manifestations
People who don't drink, don't smoke, never swear and don't talk about sex raise some suspicions in me. I'm sure at night they cut up the corpses of little children or something like that.
Humanity is determined not by how we interact with people, but by how we behave with animals.
The difference between what a person actually looks like and how they imagine themselves to be can be downright devastating. Maybe vampires live forever because they can't see themselves in mirrors or photographs.
If we don't understand something, it infuriates us. If we are unable to understand or explain something, we deny it.
People use things called phones because they hate being together but are very afraid of being alone.
Of all the forgotten priceless items, this is what we rescue. Artifacts. Memory replicas. Worthless souvenirs. Something that cannot be sold at auction. Scars left by happiness.
No matter how strong your love for a person seems to you, when the pool of blood flowing from his wound spreads across the floor so much that it almost touches you, you involuntarily pull away.
When we don't know who to hate, we develop self-hatred.
Tantrums are only effective when someone is watching them.
There is nothing more boring in the world than nakedness. Although actually there is something else. Honesty.
The purest joy is gloating.
Most often, people leave a small town to dream of returning there. And others stay to dream of leaving there.
About life
All your life you try to become God, and then you die.
We all die. The goal is not to live forever, the goal is to create a thing that will live.
In our world, where there are only people and no humanity.
Uncertainty about the future makes it difficult to break with the past.
It doesn't matter if you do anything. If no one notices, your life is one big zero. Zero. Nothing.
The whole world is a disaster waiting to happen.
There is nothing special in the world. No magic. Only physics.
In fact, the whole world is made up of assholes.
The day doesn't start with an alarm clock and doesn't end with TV.
Drugs, gluttony, alcohol or sex are just another way to find peace.
You probably have to really suffer before you risk doing what you love.
When everything falls apart—and it always does—the dreamer returns to the world.
From the confirmation of a truth known long ago, fresh pain can always be extracted.
The same miracles can be repeated again and again, the main thing is that they have already been forgotten about.
When your whole life is planned out point by point, for some reason it never lives up to expectations. There is so much to do, and you have done so little.
And I cry because my life has no meaning and will end in nothing. Even worse than nothing - complete oblivion.
By the way, quotes about life
About people
Some of us are born human. The rest go to this all their lives.
People don't give birth to ideas. Just the opposite... Ideas give birth to us.
This is how people are made. Everyone needs someone to hold their hand. For someone to comfort him. He promised that everything would be fine.
Plato was right. We are all immortal. We can't die even if we want to.
Theater in thoughts. Brothel in the subconscious.
We love tragedy. We love conflict. We need the Devil, and if there is no Devil, we create it ourselves.
The world would be a much better place without some people.
The main question people now ask themselves is not “What is the meaning of existence?” The big question is, “Where does this quote come from?”
None of you have the beauty and uniqueness of a snowflake.
By the way, quotes about people
About relationships
You can pretend. You can fool yourself, but you cannot recreate what is already over.
A year could have passed between her question and my answer.
I would rather let a person hate me than feel sorry for me.
People need to be around someone who is inferior to them in order to feel superior.
Everyone has someone in their life who will never let you go, and someone who you will never let go of.
I just want to be needed by someone. Necessary and necessary. I need someone to whom I could give all of myself - all my free time, all my attention and care. Someone dependent on me. Mutual dependence.
About women and men
Women are more developed beings. There is no equality of the sexes and there cannot be. When men start giving birth, then we can talk about equality.
The most attractive thing about a man is that he finds you attractive.
It’s funny, really: the women who are around you don’t think about them. But you cannot forget those women whom you have lost or whom you have not yet had.
Why are we all so primitive? I mean, guys. As soon as the woman takes off her clothes, we are ready to give her our last money.
By the way, quotes about women and quotes about men
About art
Art is born only from grief. And never from joy.
The beauty of a work of art depends much more on the frame than on the creation itself.
The only thing an artist can do is describe his own face.
I bet if you paint what lives in your heart, this canvas will hang in a museum.
Nothing infuriates us more than some twitchy drug addict, lazy slacker or filthy pervert who suddenly creates a masterpiece. As if by chance.
By the way, quotes about art and quotes about creativity
About love
You tell yourself that you love a person, but in reality you are only using him. We constantly mistake something else for love.
It's like you have to almost die to be loved. It’s as if you have to hang on the very edge in order to escape.
She still loves you. She wouldn't torture you if she didn't love you.
Everyone you loved will either leave you or die.
By the way, quotes about love
About consumption
Generations after generations of people work in jobs they hate just so they can buy things they don't need.
People do this, yes: they turn things into people, and people into things.
People are slaves to their things. What you have eventually has you and becomes your master.
About the unreal
The unreal is stronger than reality. Because in the real world, perfection does not exist. Absolutely only what we invent for ourselves.
Nothing was as real as her fantasy world.
It takes a lot of work to achieve perfection, but the momentary perfection makes all the effort worth it.
About the society
Recycling and speed limits are complete nonsense. It reminds me of those smokers who decide to quit smoking while lying on their deathbed.
Game shows are designed to make us comfortable with the random and useless remnants of our education.
About beauty
Beauty is power, just like money, just like a loaded gun.
Beauty is an old concept. Surface. False.
By the way, quotes about beauty
About freedom
When you lose all hope, you finally find freedom.
Only when we lose everything do we become free to do anything.
By the way, quotes about freedom
About death
Dying is boring to death.
Most of the laugh tracks on television were recorded in the early fifties. That is, almost all the people whose laughter you hear are now dead.
About miscellaneous
Perhaps self-improvement isn't everything. Perhaps self-destruction is more important.
It's hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember joy. Happiness leaves no memorable scars. Peacetime teaches nothing.
Only losers drink alone.
Rich people, unlike most people, know that they don’t burn bridges. This is a waste! They sell bridges.
First, your parents give you your own life. But as time passes, they try to impose their lives.
You make a friend, the friend gets married, and you no longer have a friend.
After eating you have to shit, but this does not mean that eating is a waste of time.
You will never be younger than you are tonight.
One gets the impression that Palahniuk belongs to almost the predominant part of modern writers who compete in how else to surprise or shock the modern fastidious reader. Although he considers himself a romantic writer.
Quotes about Palahniuk
- D. Fincher: There are a lot of thoughts in the book ["Fight Club"] that often crossed my mind, but I never dared to say them out loud. Today's men live in an emotional desert. Or rather, they don’t know how to express their feelings - do they have the right to cry, scream, fight? I dreamed that they would at least give me a hint!
- M. Weller: If Chuck Palahniuk is a writer, then I am Mozart!
- D. Bykov: He has good guesses, but his interest in pathology shows, in my opinion, simply a lack of understanding of the norm. He has no interest in the norm. Judith Guest once wrote a wonderful novel, Ordinary People. I haven’t seen these ordinary people in literature since then. It’s easier to write about pathology. It is difficult to describe the average person; it is difficult to describe everyday mechanisms and reactions.

Ann's Tale: Chuck Palahniuk's cult novel "Fight Club", published for the first time in Russian, has already gained great fame in Russia thanks to the equally cult film of the same name by David Fincher and the script by Jim Uhls, published in the magazine "Kinoscenarii". And finally, the reader can get acquainted with the novel, which laid the foundation for the creation of similar “fight clubs” around the world, including here in Russia. So what is Fight Club? But - shh! The first rule of fight club is: "Never talk about fight club." Better read! Moreover, Ch. Palahniuk’s novel even more deeply highlights the philosophical problems posed in D. Fincher’s film adaptation, the problems of “generation X,” “faced with an overabundance of rational information while the stream of emotional life has completely dried up.”

“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die.
But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives.
That's the only lasting thing you can create.” ― Chuck Palahniuk, Choke

That's how your whole life will feel some day. This is all practice.”
― Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters

Origin of the surname
Palahniuk Chuck is the writer's real name, but it is pronounced somewhat unusual. This incident happened to the writer in childhood. His parents took him with them to the cemetery to visit their relatives. There he saw the graves of his grandparents. Their names were engraved on the slabs: Paula, Nick. By adding both names, the author got the combination “PolaNik”, which bizarrely combined with the family’s surname. Therefore, the writer’s surname is read as “Palanik”, and not according to the rules of pronunciation - “Palanik”. The name Chuck is short for Charles.
Fight Club: Level Intermediate, Chuck Palahniuk
- Publisher: Anthology
- ISBN: 9785990808560
- Year: 2015
American writer Chuck Palahniuk's acclaimed Fight Club began as a short story that eventually became the sixth chapter of a powerful cult work published in the late 20th century. The novel produced the effect of a bomb exploding. The cynical text was instantly taken away for quotes, and three years later a film of the same name was released, which is still listed among the best films that caused a great public outcry. Literary critics interpret the theme of the novel in different ways: here there is nihilism, religious motives, mind games, criticism of consumer society, and the history of romantic relationships. But as the author himself states, his hero is simply a lonely person looking for ways to get closer to others, to be understood, accepted and loved. The book presents an abbreviated and adapted Intermediate level text. Adaptation, abbreviation and dictionary by A.V. Shitova.
