Immediately after its release and I watched it, “Madagascar” became one of my favorite cartoons. It’s difficult to say why and because of what, and I don’t really want to understand this, but the fact remains that this DreamWorks creation is always pleasant and interesting for me to review, so I don’t regret the half hour I spent today on reviewing the cartoon. As usual, I'll start with the script, ideas and characters. At first glance, all of today's fashionable animated cartoons are no different from each other and look the same, but I will immediately draw my attention to one of the unusual features of Madagascar - the number of main characters, because usually a proven and reliable trinity is used. It seems to me that the 4 main characters symbolize different types of people’s temperaments. Leo Alex is a born leader, a real “king of the beasts”, undoubtedly sanguine and, perhaps, a little conservative, in some ways we are similar. Our monochrome friend, Marty the zebra, in all respects resembles an at times unbalanced and fiery choleric person. Gloria the hippopotamus is an imperturbable phlegmatic person. And, naturally, in the suspicious giraffe Melman, the sensitive melancholic is most easily recognized. Looking at the excellent compatibility of the incompatible characters of the heroes, you just have to marvel and try to learn from them such a strong community. Despite all the riot of colors in the presentation of the main characters, the creators did not forget not only about the secondary, but even about episodic characters. They are all as colorful as the plot allows. For example, monkeys delight every time they appear, although the characters are passable. Scenes with the arrogant lemur king Julian and his henchman, the weary Maurice, paint a seemingly unusual friendship. And I always don’t mind remembering the uncouth savages of the Foss; a huge spider, which is remembered only by the shouts of “Hit! Hit!"; a fighting old woman named Aunt; and a worthless zoo worker with a gun that he doesn’t even know how to hold. Naturally, not a single review can do without mentioning the public’s favorite characters - the penguins Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Prapor. Yes, and I am always delighted with their episodes, take at least their maneuvers, which always leave me with the impression of “Mission: Impossible” (but there it is all serious), or their tremendous persistence in achieving the goal that they have and it’s not needed for nothing. Perhaps the last person I want to remember will be my favorite minor character - the lemur Mort (oh, good name), who was able to bribe me with one of his “Aha!” Speaking in general about the plot, first of all, I want to say that this cartoon is an excellent collection of jokes, anecdotes, funny situations, parodies, quotes that you are not ashamed to say on any occasion, and all this is by no means stupid American or little-understood English humor, but something that will be pleasant, interesting and appropriate for every person, be it an adult or a child. Naturally, not a single animated cartoon simply can do without tragic moments, after which it usually follows morally, however, this part in “Madagascar”, as for me, is as shortened as possible and is present only as a tribute to the genre, so children can also use this cartoon learn a valuable lesson and also feel sad. The cartoon, in my opinion, is an excellent example of when slightly angular, implausible and currently outdated graphics in no way spoil the overall impression of the film, but even give it some uniqueness and some special flavor. Hans Zimmer once again did not let the viewer down and provided the film with high-quality and appropriate musical content. And, of course, we should not forget about the already well-known songs, the use of which only made “Madagascar” even more familiar to the people. And also, having recently seen a video for the song “I like to move it!” on television. I understood absolutely exactly - I like this song exclusively performed by Sacha Baron Cohen, his voice is suitable. Also, I am convinced that the cartoon would not have had such popularity among us if it were not for a good and thoughtful (which is extremely rare) translation. Although the roles were voiced by celebrities, I don’t see any particular problem in this, as for me it turned out tolerably. However, David Schwimmer, in my opinion, is quite difficult to replace. “Madagascar” at one time made an indelible impression on me and, apparently, not only on me, since there were so many attempts to repeat this success. Just like two years ago, I usually recommend watching it; there are no dissatisfied people yet. Although I prefer puppet cartoons, I will never disdain this film. Enjoy watching.
